While working on the MOBA Starter Kit I was wondering how to simulate bad network conditions (paket loss, high ping) to stress-test the project. Turns out, the Unreal Engine 4 has a feature built in to simulate exactly such bad conditions. After a quick search I found a very informative blog post by Joe Graf. Essentially one can just set a few variables through the console or a the DefaultEngine.ini .
If you don’t want to type these settings into the console every game you can add the following part to the DefaultEngine.ini:
